Cyclists on National Cycle Network Route 46 in Blaenavon

Walking and Cycling

The Blaenavon Industrial Landscape is growing in importance as a walking centre. A variety of way-marked walks have been developed for a range of interests and abilities.

  • Pick up walks leaflets at the Blaenavon World Heritage Centre and find out about ideal walks in the landscape from the helpful staff.
  • The National Cycle Route, following the former railway line from Newport, passes through the World Heritage Site by Big Pit. From this cyclists can explore the Blaenavon area.
  • The towpath of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal also provides a long distance footpath, which passes through the World Heritage Site.
