Annual Lecture at Big Pit National Coal Museum with guest speaker Rhodri Morgan, former First Minister of Wales.
Rhodri Morgan will deliver this year’s Annual Lecture at Big Pit on Saturday 8th April at 1.30pm entitled “Wales – The Coal Era and the Post Coal Era”.
In his talk, the former First Minister of Wales will compare the Wales of 1841, when it became the world's first 'industrial nation' according to that year's Census, to the struggles over the past 90 years or so to replace the jobs lost in the Valleys since the long decline of the industry started in the mid 1920s.
Rhodri Morgan was the Leader of Welsh Labour from 2000 to 2009. He was also the Assembly Member for Cardiff West from 1999 to 2011 and the Member of Parliament for Cardiff West from 1987 to 2001. He is the longest-serving First Minister of Wales.
The annual lecture is FREE, no pre-booking necessary.
