Blaenavon World Heritage Centre Opening Hours

The Blaenavon World Heritage Centre will be open seven days a week between Monday 1 February and Easter Monday (5th April). During this period the centre will be hosting an exciting programme of events and activities for people of all ages and backgrounds.

The renowned Welsh drama group ‘Chance Encounters’ will be educating and entertaining thousands of schoolchildren through the guise of nineteenth century Blaenavon characters, in a number of storytelling sessions being held in February and March - interested schools are advised to contact the centre for more details. A series of short plays and informative guided walks will be taking place on weekends – more details coming soon!

Eisteddfod Gold Medal winning artist, Suzie Horan, returns to the centre in February and March, carrying out copper jewellery-making workshops free of charge on 20/21 Feb & 20/21 Mar. You can also learn the traditional craft of rag rug making with local textile artist Jane Dorsett in a free class on 27 February. Following on from the Wedding Fayre on 30 January, the centre is holding a St. Valentine’s Weekend. On Saturday 13 February you are invited to participate in a free Valentine’s Day card-making class with artist, Kelly White of White Crafts. And, on St. Valentine’s Day, 14 February, Heritage Cafe is offering a special buy one get one free deal on romantic meals for two (for more information please contact Heritage Cafe on 01495 742339).

Throughout half term (15-19 February), the centre will be joined by artists from Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre and will hold free arts and crafts workshops for children. And, as Easter approaches, free chocolate making workshops will be taking place, held by local chocolatier, Pam Killick of Chocs Away, Blaenavon, between 29 March and 2 April. There will also be a free Easter Egg Hunt around the centre and an Easter menu at Heritage Cafe.

All of these activities will complement the centre’s excellent multi-media interpretative exhibitions and facilities. The Blaenavon World Heritage Centre has something to offer everybody, so please pay us a visit!
