The Blaenavon World Heritage Centre has recently been collecting stories and memories relating to Blaenavon’s past. We have had several interesting responses so far, two of which tell the story of day to day life in the close-knit community of Garn-yr-erw during the first half of the twentieth century.
Click on the links to see the stories of Arthur J. Davies| (b.1921) and Terry Matthews| (b.1935) , both of whom kindly shared their memories with us.
We have added a new section to the website, which will be dedicated to Blaenavon’s ‘People’s History’. If you would like to share your stories or memories of Blaenavon and would be happy for them to be included on our website or interpretative/educational material, please send an email to blaenavon.tic@torfaen.gov.uk|. We would love to hear from you!
