Blaenavon’s Heritage Railway is pleased to announce the return of Ivor the Engine, the little Welsh engine with the big heart. On the weekend of August 13/14 Ivor will be coming to the railway and will be here for the whole weekend. A popular TV character with children and adults alike, the real locomotive is now making his fourth visit to the railway having been very popular on his previous visits. There will be games, stories, the chance to meet Ivor and friends (including Bluebell the Donkey) and even ride behind him as he chuffs up and down the line.
This year Ivor will be joined by our resident steam locomotives, the lovely red pairing of No. 19 and 71515 Mech. Navvies Ltd. With the extension to Blaenavon High Level now open Ivor will be making trips all the way to town and then with the help of No. 19 and 71515 will be working hard as they take the train back up the hill to Furnace Sidings and the Whistle Inn. This year has seen the railway go from strength to strength so why not be part of it, pop along on the 13/14 for a great family day out and support your local railway.
