Blaenavon's Heritage Railway will be running steam trains all over the May Bank Holiday (28 – 30^th), with trains leaving Furnace Sidings every half hour from 11:00 for Blaenavon or the Whistle Inn. On the Sunday and Monday it's the Teddy Bears Picnic, where every child gets a free picnic bag and Teddy bears travel free. They will be able to meet the railway's Teddy Bear and get their picture taken with him. The railway is only a 5 minute walk from Big Pit so combining the two is the ideal day out and the train ticket allows passengers to ride all day.

The Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway is an entirely volunteer run heritage railway situated at Furnace Sidings, Garn-yr-Erw just north of Blaenavon, Torfaen. The railway runs weekends from Easter until October plus Christmas Santa Specials. There are plenty of events run throughout the season but especially during the summer and provide a good value day out for the family.
