Much more than just a Museum…Blandalf, Spookémons' and scary faces!

During half term week Big Pit National Coal Museum, Blaenavon and National Roman Legion Museum, Caerleon will be holding some special family events supported by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery’.

Blandalf the Baard, the the teller of tales who lives in the valleys of lovely South Wales, will be at Big Pit on 30 October, 1 & 3 November from 12pm until 4pm. Hear about Dai Morris the miner and other Blaenavon tales wrapped up in legends. Plus there’s an opportunity to try your hand at writing ridiculous rhymes and silly sonnets!

At the National Roman Legion Museum, from 30 October until 3 November, join in a workshop to make a clay antefixa - a Roman tile with a scary face on it. You can add warts, fangs or horns, whatever you think will keep the ghosts and goblins away! The workshops are at 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm, cost £2 per person and bookable by calling (029) 2057 3350. While you’re in the Museum, try and catch the ‘Spookémons’ living in the Museum using our special IPad app.

A spokesperson said, “Big Pit and the National Roman Legion Museum are delighted to be offering a range of activities this half term, as well as the fantastic museum visit and experience, which highlight two very different museums who are proud to be part of this year’s Welsh Museums Festival.”
