The Lion Hotel and Restaurant in Blaenavon has been awarded a much coveted Rosette by the AA for culinary excellence and the prestigious Silver Star Award for outstanding hospitality.
First introduced in 1956, the AA’s Rosette Award scheme was the first UK-wide scheme for assessing the quality of food served by restaurants and hotels.
The Silver Star rating recognises hotels that have been selected for their superior level of quality, high standards of hotel house-keeping and for the quality of food within its star rating. The Lion is now part of a very, very small group of only 4 hotels in Wales to receive the Silver Star rating.
Torfaen’s Executive Member for Business, Tourism, Leisure and Culture, Cllr Alan Jones, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for all the staff at The Lion. These prestigious awards are a renowned sign of quality which will attract food lovers and tourists looking for a real taste of Wales and wishing to explore the World Heritage sites and stunning scenery around Blaenavon.”
