"During this unprecedented period, Big Pit will open for four days per week – every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday – until further notice. To reduce any risks from COVID-19, we have had to change what we do, and currently the UNDERGROUND TOUR and KING COAL: THE MINING EXPERIENCE WILL REMAIN CLOSED.
The Museum remains free to enter. However, to keep you and our staff safe, we have had to reduce the number of people we can welcome on site at any one time. To manage this, all visitors entering the site will need to have booked a free ticket in advance in advance. Sadly, if you don't book and present a valid ticket, you’ll be turned away. We can make no exceptions. Tickets will be available via Eventbrite from late August. Though entry is timed, you can stay until closing!
Tickets will be released every Wednesday for visits covering the following two weeks on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
We are doing everything we can to keep you and our staff safe so please consider others and don’t try and visit if you are living in a lock down area, or have any symptoms of COVID-19.
Visitors are required to wear face coverings in indoor spaces at our Museums, in line with Welsh Government guidelines. We reserve the right to refuse entry to those not wearing a face covering without due cause for example for health and wellbeing reasons."
