8. King Street

Carry on up the hill to the top of Broad Street, which continues into King Street. King Street is one of Blaenavon’s oldest streets. In the 19th and early 20th centuries the street was thriving with many shops and public houses. King Street was the birthplace of the trade unionist and Labour politician Sir Isaac Hayward (1884-1976), who was the leader of London County Council (1947-1965). At the end of King Street continue on to the main road, turning left down the hill. Look to your right and you will see a row of white cottages.
