4. Garnddyrys Forge

Garnddyrys Forge was built in 1816-17, little remains today, but it was once a busy industrial site that processed ‘pig iron’ from the Blaenavon Ironworks, supplying wrought iron bars and rails to markets across the world. As you walk through the site look right to make out the overgrown foundations of the forge’s furnaces set into the slope. Follow the track up the slope and then cross the road. On the other side walk up a grassy bank.
