Just below you on the other side of the road is the site of the Garnddyrys Forge. Built in 1816- 17, little remains today, but it was once a busy industrial site with a population of around 450 in the 1840s.

Carry on past a stone waymarker marked ‘Govilon/Llanfoist’, keeping it on your left.
