3. Engine Brake Wheel

The rusted iron mechanism set in a pit on the right hand side of the path at this point is the remains of a cleverly engineered braking system that once controlled the descent of trams going down an ‘inclined plane’ now behind you. Carry on the path from here in a north-westerly direction. You are now on a former tramroad!

After approximately 0.5 kms you will come to Hill Pits Chimney.
