Townscape Heritage Programme

Welcome to Blaenavon Townscape Heritage Programme!

Torfaen County Borough Council is implementing a £1.9m heritage regeneration project to manage positive changes to the town centre and promote Blaenavon as a World Heritage Site and tourist destination.

The funding will allow the Council to deliver a Townscape Heritage Programme which will help local property owners based on Broad Street to make heritage-based improvements to their properties, improving the look and feel of the town centre to make it a more attractive place to visit and do business.

It will also fund projects designed to engage with the local community including; creating learning opportunities for school children to celebrate their town’s heritage, conservation apprenticeship placements, World Heritage Day parades and much more. Our activities are designed to engage with the local community and volunteers on a wide range of activities that deliver skills and training whilst underpinning the areas history.

The Blaenavon THP is supporting physical and community heritage regeneration in Blaenavon through targeted building grants on identified properties and community initiatives.

The programme’s community activities help us to engage across the community of Blaenavon to explore people’s personal connections to their heritage and celebrate their town’s World Heritage Status.

The Blaenavon THP is being delivered through funding contributions from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players, Torfaen County Borough Council, Blaenavon Town Council, Cadw and Private Sector Applicants.
