World Heritage Day Parade

Over a four year period, The THP worked with the World Heritage Committee, resulting with Ysgol Bryn Onnen and Blaenavon Heritage Voluntary Controlled School participating in three parades. A series of workshops within the schools were held to explore the history and heritage of the town and to create items for the actual Word Heritage Day Parade.

The 2019 parade focussed on ‘people that help us’.

Due to Covid, the event in 2020 was cancelled, however 2021 saw the creation of a ‘social media’ event. Head4Arts worked with Ysgol Bryn Onnen and Blaenavon VC Schools to produce an online Art Galley and poetry based upon: "Recognising the value of our Town Centre". These can be viewed at www.head4arts.org.uk.

2022 saw the welcome return of the annual parade with the schools focusing upon the local shops. Despite the rain, the event took place on Saturday 25th June.
