6. Richard Gaut
This is the grave of Richard Gaut, a Blaenavon man, who migrated to Australia during the 19th century. The Gauts were a well-known Blaenavon family of farmers and mining contractors. Richard Gaut was just one of many Blaenavon people who sought a better life overseas. Clearly, he still held Blaenavon close to his heart and after his death in 1927, his body made the long journey back to his hometown.
Keep following the path parallel to the church. Most of the graves to your right have been flattened as a safety precaution. Walk to the intersection in the path.
