1. St. Peters Church

St. Peter's Church was built by the ironmasters Thomas Hill and Samuel Hopkins in 1804. For over 200 years it has played an important role in the spiritual and cultural life of the Blaenavon community. The Church bears many features of the local iron industry, including cast iron sills on the door and windows, and a cast iron baptismal font.

Even in death, the ironmasters wanted to leave their mark. Look around and you will see five tombs with cast iron lids.

Walk slowly back towards the main gate and look at the graves on your left. Here you will see five tombs with cast-iron lids. Find the grave with the name 'Sarah Bissel'.
