2. Aaron Brutes Bridge

You are looking at Aaron Brute’s Bridge. A scheduled Ancient Monument, it is one of the earliest examples in the world of a cast iron bridge, thought to have been built around 1812. Named after Aaron Brute who was the manager of the local mine when it was built, and an influential man. You can see the cottage he lived in next to the bridge. Cross over the bridge and when you reach the road turn right. Follow the road for approx. 100m. On your left you will find the waymarked entrance to Forgeside Community Woodland.
