6. Community Woodland
You are walking in Forgeside Community Woodland. You can also cycle through this woodland. Once a former colliery tip, Forgeside Community Woodland is now a restful place that all can enjoy. The woodland provides a good cover for nesting birds, particularly buzzards. Within the woodland are areas of grassland and reed beds. These provide some of the most important features of the woodland because it provides an essential habitat for unique butterflies including the Dingy Skipper and Grayling. You will reach the National Cycle Network Route 492.
